In the spring of 2008, Larchmont resident Leslie Trent purchased a laptop—and then couldn't find anything stylish to carry it around in. "There was nothing chic at all," says the former fashion sales director for leading European fashion companies. "Women were carrying magnificent, expensive handbags with ugly twenty-dollar cases for their very expensive technical equipment." This prompted her and partner Detlef Meffert of Germany to foundTechtotes and offer über-stylish technical cases at recession-friendly prices. Their debut product line ranges from a cellphone carrier with a three-way adjustable gold chain ($28) to a dual-purpose attaché case/laptop carrier ($125), plus a laptop or portfolio case ($78), a Netbook case ($88), cases suitable for iPads and Kindles ($42), and a multi-use envelope ($98). The collection features luxurious Ultrasuede linings, thick padding, interior Velcro enclosures, and brass hardware. Trent chose a synthetic material because, she says, it was waterproof and kept the cost of the items down. The products are made in China. "We tried to have a sample made in New York and it cost something like three thousand dollars," says Trent. Techtotes are available locally at Parker's in Rye and online at techtotes.net.

I have mentioned before that I have a fetish for bags. This includes purses, computer bags, and camera bags. I have reviewed a few different bags recently. This one is from Techtotes.net. They have some really beautiful bags for laptops, netbooks, and cell phones.
I reviewed the Techtotes Attache AHS6 in black priced at $125.
This is a really fashionable bag! I chose this size to carry my 13.3″ laptop although it will fit up to a 15″. The outside of the bag is very attractive and easy to clean. The inside is nice and soft with plenty of pockets for laptop accessories. Although, I carry around too much stuff, so it was a tight fit.

-Dual purpose attaché case – laptop carrier.
-Padded for laptop protection.
-Luxurious ultra suede lining – black.
-Distinctive inside compartment for personal items.
-Velcro strap to secure computer.
-Outside portfolio compartment.
-Studs on bottom for protection.
We’ve left nothing out in this stylish laptop bag or attaché case… fits up to 15″ (38 cm) laptop computer
The only thing that I did not like about this bag is that it only includes a strap to hold the laptop in place and not a separate pocket. This is ok if you only carry around paper, and soft stuff. I have portable hard drives, a Flip camera, pens, the power adapter for the laptop, and a few other things. Not sure what did it, but the lid of my laptop got scratched by something else in the bag.
Overall it is a great bag. I got a lot of compliments when carrying it. The strap problem could easily be helped by keeping the laptop in a sleeve.

All of the craze recently over netbooks, iPads, Kindles and all sorts of smaller technology is great, but I still need my techno-gear to keep me looking stylish and hip! Luckily, TechTotes is looking out for the stylish ladies like us. TechTotes presents “an innovative capsule collection of tech items for the self-assured, modern individual.” They offer a variety of totes ranging in size, color, and style designed to make transporting our favorite technology items easy while complementing our sense of fashion.
I am loving my tote! I recently acquired a sleek new laptop so I was already in search of a carrier just as stylish as my laptop. I was so excited when I saw the tote options from TechTotes because I knew my laptop would fit perfectly into one of these babies. With a little advice from the helpful Tech Totes guru, I chose the Black Embossed Ostrich Envelope Tote and I couldn’t be more pleased with it. My laptop slides in perfectly and there is even a divider within the tote so I can store papers or other supplies to take along with my laptop. The tote comes with a removable shoulder strap, but if I had only one minor wish it would be for the tote to have a handle. Again, this is a very minor wish since the tote already comes with a shoulder strap, so as long as there’s some way to tote around my tote then I’m happy! All in all, this is a well-made, stylish, quality laptop tote which I highly recommend to any lady out there wishing to dress up her laptop carrier.
The Black Embossed Ostrich Envelope which I reviewed also comes in Silver Patent Stripe and fits laptops up to 13”. If your laptop is slightly larger than that, TechTotes offers a Portfolio style tote as well as an Attaché style tote. For the netbook users there is also a tote specifically made for netbooks up to 10.1”. And finally, for the Kindle and iPad users, make sure you check out TechTotes new totes and covers made specifically for smaller technology!

I have a laptop and I have never brought it anywhere because I never had a bag to put it in. I always worried about ruining it or something. I was introduced to TECHTOTES and immediately knew I needed to review one.
I was sent the TECHTOTE Laptop/portfolio in Red Embossed Crocodile! Ohhhhhh, it is nice I am loving it, big time, and so is my laptop It is so soft and protects my laptop very well with the ultra suede lining. It has velcro straps inside, to secure my laptop so that it does not slide around on me. It also has a two way ykk zipper and a high quality adjustable cross body strap, to carry it with. Very comfortable I might add! This can be used for a portfolio case or laptop case, your choice! It is chic and sophisticated and stylish! It also has various sections for your cell phone, pens, paper or other personal essentials you just can’t live without.

Tech Totes for Your Gorgeous Gadgets
A Columbia County resident introduces a stylish way to tote all your tech gear

Let’s face it: Whether it is your laptop or your BlackBerry, your iPod, or your Kindle, we’re all toting around a lot of technical things these days. But now you can schlep in style thanks to fashion industry veterans Detlef Meffert and Leslie Trent. “I’d watch these really chic women at the airport. They’d be beautifully dressed, and over one shoulder would be a Gucci bag and then on the other side they’d be carrying this ugly nylon bag for their computer,” says Meffert. “I saw the need.”
So Meffert (a German native who recently traded his Manhattan digs for a permanent place in Hudson) and Trent spent a year designing the new Techtotes product line, which includes chic cases, most lined with ultrasuede, for laptops, cellphones and even iPads. Currently the bags are available at A.I. Friedman in Manhattan (“and we’re talking with Nordstrom” says Meffert), but they got a “huge reaction” when they launched the Web site about five months ago. The specialized sacks are now being bought up by consumers all across the country.
At present, the products are manufactured in China and stored at a warehouse in Jersey City, but Meffert says he’d like to find a facility closer to home. “I just love it up here, it’s beautiful, it really does look just like the famous Hudson River School paintings. I’m so lucky that I can live here and — because of the Internet — maintain this business.” And has he spotted any of his bags around Hudson? “No, not yet, but I will. I will.”

 As a blogger my laptop goes with me where I go so I need a great bag to safely take my laptop from place to place. And of course I want a bag with style so I was very excited when I was introduced to Techtotes. Techtotes makes fabulously stylish laptop bags that will have you excited to take your laptop places. Each fabulous laptop case they make will make you drool seriously I love them all, picking just one was really difficult. I ended up with the black embossed ostrich fashion case and yes it is just as fabulous as it sounds. This envelope style case has padding and a strap to secure and protect your laptop. Being a blogger, a work at home professional and a mom who travels on occasion, my laptop seems to go with me wherever I go these days. You would think that because it comes with me when I’m on the go I’d have it nicely secured in a nice protective bag….not so!
